Bio: Cullis “James” Autry has been the Executive Director of Serving Our Neighbors for the past 9 years and was one of its Founders, when SON began as a Steering Committee of local lead Pastors and Business Leaders mobilizing prayer and service in 1999. One of the major strategic initiatives of SON was the Christian Chamber of Commerce of the Northwest, wherein James served as the Executive Director, Membership Director, and Office Manager for 7 years. Prior to these assignments, James served as theStation Manager, Sales Manager, Programming Director, and Promotions Director (from 1998-2010) and then facilitated Independent Sales and Marketing (from 2010-2014) for Crawford Broadcasting’s “The Truth” KKPZ 1330 AM Radio (www.KKPZ.com)
James has also served as the President (from 2013 to present) of the Portland Ashkelon Sister City Association (www.PortlandAshkelon.org), the Oregon State Coordinator (from 200-2014) for National Day of Prayer (www.nationaldayofprayer.org) and is the founding Director of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship in America (fgbmfa.org) and the Christian Chamber of Commerce of the Northwest (www.christianchambernorthwest.com) and serves on the Board of Good Samaritan Ministries. For 7 years (from 1997-2004), James was also the Producer and Co-Host of a weekly radio broadcast called the “Israel Connection” with Bea Watson of Bridges for Peace (an outreach ministry based in Jerusalem, Israel for the past 40 years), was the Audio Producer of the “Kingdom Business Forum” with Patrice Tsague and Vicki Norris and is certified to teach Nehemiah Project International Ministries’ Biblical Entrepreneurship Certification Course in partnership with the Regent University’s School of Leadership and Entrepreneurship.
Family: James met his wife, Susan Conley, who was transferred in 1994 from the National Sales Office for Red Lion Hotels in Vancouver, WA to the Hotel and Convention Center in Modesto, CA. The met in 1995 at the FGBMFI’s Northern California Convention, wherein they were married a year later. In 1996, James and Susan moved to Portland, Oregon to begin his work for Crawford Broadcasting Company’s Portland Radio stars KKSL 1290 AM / KKPZ 1330 AM, while Susan transferred to the Jantzen Beach – Red Lion Hotel. In 1999 Susan was hired as a Sales Manager for the Portland Hilton & Executive Towers, in 2004 she was promoted to Assistant Director of Sales, and in 2006 she was promoted to Director of Sales & Marketing for the Hilton Vancouver and Convention Center, where she retired from the Hotel Industry in 2008. In July 2000, the had their first son, James “Will” William, in August 2001, they had their second son, Jonathan “Oliver” and in 2008, they had their third son, Justin Alexander “Alec” Lynn Autry. Susan now enjoys being a “Mom”, cooking, knitting, reading, and taking care of their family.
Background: James Autry grew up in the small town of Camilla, Georgia and because of his daily walk with God, his grades improved, he fell in love, and came to have close friends for the first time in his life. In 1982, he toured the United States and Northern Europe with Continental Singers. From 1983 to 1987, James earned his BBA in Marketing Management at Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee, where he also ministered in song, taught Bible studies, as well as led and created various student organizations on and off campus.
In 1987, James was led to work at the Opryland Hotel. Two years later, at a Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International’s National Convention, he met their leadership and mover to California to work at the World Headquarters Office under the direction of their Founder and International President, Demos Shakarian in 1990. In 1991, he was promoter to Ministry Services Coordinator, where he oversaw the work of their worldwide Chapter, Membership, and Events Services departments, which included coordinating their World Conventions in Orlando (’91), San Francisco (’92), and Boston (’93).
In 1993, James moved to Colorado Springs, CO to work with Foundation For Israel, where God has opened many doors for ministry to the local community and ministry leaders. He also discovered God’s love for the Jewish people, the land of Israel, and had a deepened understanding of Yeshua as Messiah.
